I have had intermittent problems with the steering on my 2005 Ford F350 pickup. Investigations have revealed a bad gimbal front axle. The local "highly recommended" frontend workshop found no problems. I bought them from Revain and the local mechanic replaced the front axle universal joints and that fixed the problem. The culprit was the right front cardan shaft, which came loose from the axle. They fit both the right front axle and the left front axle, although they are stated to fit the right side only.
