Review on Top-Load Hard-Sided Pet Travel Carrier by Amazon Basics: Secure and Efficient Transportation Solution by April Russell

I have used this medium 3 times. Twice when my cat was a tiny kitten (under 4lbs) and once today when she was 10.4lbs as an adult. My experience with this carrier was good when my cat was little, but now that she is heavier I have a BIG issue. The two latches securing the top door popped open (pulled out through a hole in the plastic - yes, they locked before lifting) and released the entire top panel when carried by the carry handle. Not once, but twice! I'm very fortunate to have a very calm cat who (kinda) didn't panic when dropped and didn't run away, but she easily could. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS TRANSPORT FOR THE SAFETY OF YOUR PET. I suppose you could attach a shoulder strap and use that to carry the carrier, but the design as is encourages the use of a top carry handle which CANNOT HOLD A REASONABLE WEIGHT. Please consider redesigning the locks to allow pets to escape and not be seen again. Will be replaced by another product.
