Softness and warmth in the cold, even when wet, and comfort on warm days make them a bargain. These alpaca socks are not itchy at all and I am very sensitive to them (wool allergy) - higher micron alpacas can be itchy so should be medium to fine; they wear well too. It looks like merino wool. I bought women's wool in medium size. They are actually the same size as the average male - the sizing appears to be unisex as opposed to what is the standard here in the US. It's VERY important to check the sizes - the men's sizes weren't listed when I bought them; the average here in the US would be more of a typical little man. Men's sizing should be increased 1 size up using this company sizing - compared to US men's sizing. I usually buy a medium-sized men's product, but here I need to buy a (men's) large for my husband. - I can and will happily wear and wear them, but I need to buy others to replace the ones that don't fit my partner.
