After receiving the Phyn Smart Water Assistant, I plugged its power supply into the waste chute outlet under the kitchen sink, only to find that the outlet was at the end of the switched circuit. There was no electricity in the outlet unless the garbage chute was on. I had to hire an electrician to install a new circuit. After waiting several weeks for an electrician to show up, I proceeded to the next step in the setup process, which required linking the Phyn mobile app to the Phyn Smart Water Assistant device. With the latest version of the app, I created a Phyn account and started linking the app. The QR code on the bottom of my Phyn leak detector and the QR code number I entered manually were invalid. The app then gave me the option to continue without those entries. After connecting my cell phone to Phyn's internal Wi-Fi, I found that the Phyn Smart Water Assistant was not detecting my router's Wi-Fi. This is a network connection that is easily detected by every other device that has ever been used. After disconnecting Phyn and restarting the Phyn phone app, I went back to connecting the device only to get the same result. Then it dawned on me; I have received a defective item. At this point I was so mad at this Phyn Smart Water Assistant that I unplugged and repackaged everything. Unfortunately I have exceeded the 30 day return period. Go to the Phyn website. I noticed that there is no warranty information for the Phyn Smart Water Assistant product. The product description of the Phyn Smart Water Assistant promised a lot, but it didn't work for me. Anything in this price range has to go through quality control before it is shipped to retailers. If you are considering buying this leak detector, make sure you have the correct wiring diagram under your sink before ordering one. That being said, you can install while the device is still within the 30-day return window.
