I had my doubts that this product would work but bought it anyway. I was concerned about my Vespa 12v battery overheating/overcharging. When I first connected it to the battery I took off the Vespa, the charger indicated that the battery was fully charged. I unplugged it, plugged it back into the Vespa and in fact it didn't roll over or even click like there was some sort of charge present. I KNEW the battery was low; I left the key in the ignition and turned it on. I've been steaming for a couple of days, taking battery readings while attempting to crank and saw the voltage drop to almost zero during the process. I plugged it back in and for some reason the charger said it was charging! Very happy! I continued to monitor the charger for fear of overheating. I also did periodic voltage measurements. It was over 12 volts (12.3-12.65) while charging but I left it on. After about 10 hours of charging and regular voltage checks, the battery showed a charge of about 13.6 volts, but the charger still showed charging (red light) and not green, which would indicate a full charge. I took it off the charger at night. The next morning I checked the voltage on the battery, just over 12 volts. I put it in the Vespa, and success! Contrary to previous reports, this actually charges a dead battery, but it was a small battery and the auto-stop charge function DOESN'T WORK! I hope I don't screw it up and the battery dies again but I will keep this charger and monitor it very closely. If you buy this product, be very careful.
