Review on πŸ’Ž Bosch HDG14 Diamond Hole Saw: Cutting-Edge Power and Precision by Derek Davie

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Wow! The best I've ever used... with a catch.

To be honest, the high density porcelain tile I chose for this project was rough. It was very finicky if you don't cut it perfectly and prone to chipping. I was concerned about the aggressiveness of the saw, but Revain sells them elsewhere for half the price, so I decided to take a chance. If you look at the close-up photo I have to say I'm more than impressed and if you follow the instructions (low speed and water) there is virtually no chipping. MARVELOUS! Now for 4-star ease of use. There are some issues with the central guide that needs to be ordered separately. Again, this has nothing to do with Jigsaw. The center rail has a tolerance of at least an eighth of an inch in each direction and rests just under 1/16 of an inch on the top of the tile, making it almost impossible to go through the entire straight line without rocking the saw what can cause additional chips. Now I didn't loosen the bottom of the center piece, but I found with the precision required for this project. I simply used a piece of wedi board, cut a hole in it with a saw and then clamped it against the tile to make a perfect saw guide. By the way, it also helps retain water and helps cool the blade for a faster cut.

Pros
  • Maximum cutting depth of one inch
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
