Review on BLACK DECKER BDEMS600 Detail Sander by Luca Washington

I returned this item. Within the first 2 minutes the rubber disk holding the dust bin in place broke and the bin fell out and was no longer holding. I have not touched this area of the grinder up to this point, even to take it out of the box, but I realized that even if I get a replacement disc or the unit is replaced, this will be an ongoing problem since the design of the collection container was poorly designed and absolutely not durable. That being said, the 2 minutes it took me to remove 10 year old paint from the base of my bay window wasn't impressive. There were practically no residues, dust, etc. formed in the collector or on the flat wooden surface. I suspect the problem is the sandpaper which is of terrible quality. It's not very grainy and appears to be proprietary to this device, having a fluffy backing for attaching to a burred sanding surface, as well as holes that you line up so it can collect dust. I haven't seen any other types of sandpaper for this unit other than a standard replacement part (which I also bought here because a lot of reviewers said it was hard to find in stores). I need a sander that can do a variety of jobs and being able to use different types of sandpaper is not possible with this item.
