The meter wasn't accurate.

I thought everything was going to be fine until I put gas in a 5 gallon tank. The tank was full, the meter read 3.7 gallons. I've tested this at gas stations and it's consistently wrong. I still use it, but I need to know that when the meter says 3.7 gallons, it's actually 5 gallons. I'll try to find a fixture later, but right now I can't afford downtime.
