Review on Heatshield Products 4-Inch ID x 10-Foot Thermaflect Sleeve Heat Shield Sleeve by Fort Steffen

It was easy, no parts were needed.

I have a 1987 Suzuki Samurai that is used primarily for off-road adventures. A few months ago my family and I were in eastern Washington (hot, dry desert mountains). We locked ourselves in and climbed up a very steep hill. The hill was so steep and loose that even with the brakes on, the Sammy would slide back a few inches every minute or two. It was a struggle but we were able to ride on battery power again. This gave me the task of curing the vapor lock. I did 3 things. 1- Reroute the fuel line as far away from the engine as possible. It was easy, no parts needed, took less than 5 minutes. 2- installed these heat shields. I bought two kits to cover the entire gas line in the engine bay. 3 installed Genright hood blinds (long 3 piece kit). instead of being absorbed by the gas line) and the vents would allow the heat to escape. Although I didn't recreate the exact same circumstances that led to the vapor lock, I drove in the same area and had no more problems. While the hood louvers probably made the biggest difference, I believe those heat shields were an integral and necessary part of the solution. Highly recommended!
