Review on Steven Raichlen Best Barbecue Tuscan by Amy Claeys

Love at first sight. Need a good windbreak

What makes this grill so great is that it fits on a 32 inch Dutch oven table with plenty of Dutch oven space next to it. I recently returned from a road trip and it was amazing. It can be used as is, or you can put foil on top for slower grilling, or place a pan on top for eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Or you can wrap the ribs in foil, place them on this grill, and then wrap the entire Dutch Oven table in strong foil to create a more oven-like ambient heating. Great job Steve Reichlen. Great BBQ. --- Wherever I cook On the grill, wind is a problem, so if you have the same problems as me, you should definitely have a windscreen with this appliance. The 11" double green windscreen is nice and portable, but my new favorite is the 12" on my Dutch Oven table. If you take care of that part, Steven Raichlen's Tuscan grill rocks. Seriously shaking. As opposed to a rounded or flat grill bar, it uses a triangular tube, similar to Toblerone chocolate. It makes nice grill marks on pork chops and steaks. I wish all grills were designed like this. The size of the grill at 14" x 14" is fantastic as it's portable enough for car camping and big enough to fit a decent amount of meat to feed 4 people at a time. Truly the perfect size for portability and ease of use. The leg height is just right too. Since you never know if you'll be standing on a small fire or on a table in a casserole, the short legs mean small firewood and charcoal briquettes work well. This is a big plus. Many reviews mention that propeller stages are very easy to damage and I am very glad I read these reviews. Tight screws aren't important on this grill, so just tighten them enough to keep the legs from wobbling so you don't damage the steps, and that's it. I hope that thanks to the cautious attitude towards the caterpillars, I will not have the same problems as others. However, one reviewer noted that the screws were removable and interchangeable, so keep that in mind. Have used this three times now and spent two days "seasoning" the grill. I know there is a right way to season it and have read about how to do it, but my lazy method worked and I can't tell it apart from my other pre-seasoned cast iron implements, plus the food tasted great without the metallic one Aftertaste. -Flavour, so my method seems good enough. In case anyone is wondering, I just sprayed the whole thing with a diaper, combed it as best I could, sprinkled a few charcoals on it and once it dried, sprayed it again, cleaned and put it back over the charcoals. Repeated this twice more and it looked fine to me. I respray every time I use it and now it looks like a well aged cast iron grill. don't shoot me I'm just too lazy to use the oven. I've had my eye on the TexSport cast iron grill for a long time and what held me back was the finer wire finish of the TexSport grill, so I spotted this Tuscan grill that seems to be everywhere and really made my day. If you like charcoal grills and want something portable but still want cast iron, this is a pretty good option. Add a beautiful Dutch oven table and it's grilling heaven. Hope this helps and happy grilling!
