An Engaging Card Battle Game That Will Unite Gamers And Non-Gamers

I had a chance to play this early at a con. Squirmish is an absolute delight. It's a very accessible spin on the card-battle genre while still offering deep and satisfying gameplay. I predict this will bring a lot of new players the table (no pun intended) who have never tried a CCG before. It's one of those games that blends the lines between family-friendly games and gamer-games.Squirmish also introduces some fresh new twists to battles, particularly the way it handles 4 player games. And…

Pros
  • Played a sample at a game store. Fast and easy to learn. Great game even for just two players. :)
Cons
  • The game is only enjoyable for a limited number of players, which can make it difficult to find people to play with

A Hidden Gem! good for me

I bought this game after my son played it at a friend’s house and just couldn’t stop talking about it. I have three boys ages 10 to 15 and they have now spent hours playing it. They even make their own cards that they have incorporated into the game. There is enough change each time you play it to keep them interested and wanting more. It seemed fairly easy to learn. Lots of excitement and laughter whenever they play!

Pros
  • Card Games
Cons
  • The game can be repetitive, with players often finding themselves doing the same actions over and over again

Fun game where strategy matters.

We were looking for a game to play with our children ages (6-12) that wasn't just luck of the draw but required some strategy and critical thinking. This game provides for that and is quirky and fun at the same time. There are a few situations in game play that the rules don't cover and disagreements are to be handled with paper, rock, scissors. It would be better to have a definitive rule for specific situations. All in all in is fun and I would definitely recommend it.

Pros
  • 8 x 6.5 x 1.88 inches
Cons
  • The game doesn't have a lot of depth, so it may lose its novelty quickly and become boring to play

Excells in the humor department.

If you like games that have a hard and fast rule set this game is not for you. The rule set is a bit obtuse at times and per the rule book if there is a dispute it is to be settled with stock paper scissors. The game itself is unique in that no two card are alike and that makes for games that are always unique. It takes a bit to get the battle system down but it's not anything that is too difficult. Where this game excels is in the humor department. The humor of the monsters card and their…

Pros
  • It's what it says it is with a great placement mechanic and a lot of fun
Cons
  • The artwork and design of the game may not appeal to everyone, especially those who aren't fans of "cutesy" cartoon-style graphics

Fun to Play: my feedback

All four of us like this game: two adults and kids middle school and high school. Easy enough to learn, but also with some strategy and thinking involved. And great graphics!

Pros
  • No
Cons
  • It can be difficult to keep track of all the different types of beasties and their various powers and abilities

Cute & clever and a fun game overall

Great theme and art and super easy to learn. I had my 12 year old nephew up and playing within 5 minutes and he LOVED it.I think the only concern I would report back on is an echo of what a previous reviewer mentioned. There is a LOT of special abilities going on with each character in a typical game, so there is a lot to keep track of. It could be a bit overwhelming for entry-level gamers.Other then that, this is one of my favorite game purchases of 2018!

Pros
  • June 22, 2022
Cons
  • The game can be a bit slow-paced, which may not be appealing to players who prefer games with more action and excitement

Family friendly frenzy fun!

The battle card game I had been looking for. Purchased another non CGC game, "Epic" a while ago and after reading rules many times, just never got to the table. Squirmish has fun characters that have different outcomes based on the dice roles. The battle cries and Google eyes are a perfect touch for the game.

Pros
  • Nice fun little game with cool art.
Cons
  • The game is heavily luck-based, which can be frustrating for strategic players who prefer games with more skill involved

Accidentally bought it but love it anyway.

I love this game. It's a fun little strategy battle game. My 6 year old understands the concepts and actually does fairly well but the length of the game is too much for her. It's rated age 10 and up so I'm not surprised. I accidentally bought this instead of a different one but find it a very satisfying purchase.

Pros
  • Ko three of your opponent's cards to win!
Cons
  • Players who don't enjoy games with a heavy emphasis on competition may not enjoy Squirmish, as it is very much a game played to win
