I adopted my dog late last year. I have tried different types of collars (martingale, regular collar, sex leash), harness and glide/training leash recommended by professional canine specialists. Despite constant training, my dog still pulls very hard. He's very energetic and young, so you can understand him. I finally settled on a spiked collar and it made a difference as long as my dog was on a leash. But I also wanted to teach my dog how to walk off leash without fear of running away. (My dog is VERY social and wants every French kiss.) I've tried off-leash at the park 3 times in the past and he hasn't come back to me. After a friend recommended e-collars because they work for her service dog, I gave them another look. I did a lot of research and compared several e-collars in different price ranges on Revain. I also used Fakespot to help me decide. I chose this e-collar set because of the distance (1.25 miles). I was concerned and skeptical about spending $120 on an e-collar when there were cheaper ones available (albeit with a shorter range), but I went for it. When I received the e-collar kit, the user manual was a bit confusing for me. I charged the devices for 4-6 hours as recommended. After using the e-collar/remote for a few days I got the hang of it. So far I've only used the lowest level (1). I first tried Shock (a button with a single lightning bolt icon) on myself to see how it felt before trying it on my dog. It felt like a strong static shock, but it didn't hurt me. There are 3-4 modes: Beep, Vibration and Impact. You can set the strength levels (1-10, 1 is the lowest and 10 is the strongest). That's why I've broken down the instructions here as simply as possible. I only have one dog, so I just use "A". Hope this helps: - To turn both devices on: Press and hold the power button for a few seconds, the remote will illuminate (a rapid blue flash) to indicate A01 and the E-Collar will beep. - To adjust the strengths, first press the + or - button to the desired level (A01-A10 will be displayed on the screen) and then press either the beep (bell icon), vibration (double wavy line icon) or hit (Flash, I just use the single flash icon button).- To flash the E-Collar light, press A once. To flash the indicator continuously, press and hold A for a few seconds until the E-Collar flashes starts flashing. It's not very bright, but it is something and it's useful in the dark or at night. In order not to cut off the extra collar that came with the kit, I buttoned the collar up and then reattached the excess to the buckle (if that makes sense). Pros: - Pretty easy to use once you get the hang of it. - Variety of settings and levels. - The remote control can be used by up to 3 dogs. You should purchase additional E-Collars separately. - The charging cable is convenient to use as the indicator light flashes green when charging/charging. - Worry-free off-leash training. This really works for me! So far my dog is not walking so well. (Though I still train it in a less distracting environment.) Cons: The charging ports for the remote and e-collar are covered with thin pieces of rubber. When the cable is connected, it deforms/bends the rubber part, making the devices vulnerable to liquid damage as the rubber parts do not stay in place after bending. I do NOT recommend your dog to dive with an e-collar as water can get into the charging port areas as the rubber parts are quite brittle. - I wish there was a way to show the battery percentage or power. and thin. The small "hole" in the remote that the strap goes through is very small. I want it to be bigger so a stronger and thicker rope can go through. - The instructions were a bit confusing. I try not to use the e-collar too much and only press the buttons when my dog is really not listening. So far it's been great so I haven't had to use it that often but it definitely gives me the confidence to put the e-collar on for a walk/jog, shopping or at an event. just in case. I would also run and see if my dog is chasing/running after me and he almost always does. So it helps me with both freewheel training and heel training. Keep in mind that some people and some professional dog trainers may advise against using e-collars, but ultimately it's up to you, your dog. , your patience, the time you have to exercise, and how often you exercise. Try the E-Collar on yourself first to see how it feels and don't shock your dog. Finally, I haven't tried the e-collar/remote through the full 1.25 mile range yet, but I definitely plan on doing so once this COVID-19 pandemic is over. after all. My dog and I really, really, really miss dog parks and open fields. Take care!
