The soft start was well designed and eliminated the sudden jerk I experienced with older mills of this size. I run the primary part of my diesel welder, AC 120V AC outlet (20 hours so far). The heavier weight helps balance it with the power delivery. The movable protection turned out to be very convenient. The multi-position front grip can save the day when your hands aren't in a dominant position or in tight workspaces. I occasionally ride it on a Dewalt 90 degree spoked wheel. If you're not careful, the performance can take you on an unexpected ride. A spoked wheel is safe to use if you understand the direction of rotation and inertia. Use sensible safety precautions and you will love this coffee grinder. If you are buying this you most likely already have a 4 inch wheel. When you've worn out your 7" wheel, use it on your 4" wheel.
