I bought this unit for use in a shop where it often had to be mounted to the side of my gear. In this case, the magnet can't hold it in place, and the device rotates/rotates on a magnetic base, so the light is always at its lowest point, regardless of the flexing of the flexible neck. Very disappointing. If you can set it up on a flat surface and get it out of the way, I think it's a decent product. However, I wouldn't buy it again as it won't hold up on a vertical surface. You need a stronger magnet. (By the way, I've tried this on several workshop tools and other vertical metal surfaces, including my fridge - all of which resulted in the base rotating to face the mouth downward.)
