Review on πŸ”§ Efficient OTC 4531 Harmonic Balancer Puller and Installer Set: Ultimate Solution for Balancer Removal and Installation by David Encarnacion

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great OTC kit, covers most domestic and asian models except Chrysler

I have used many different balance pullers and most of them are pretty much the same, they all have the same faults. In fact, they all basically work in the same way. This one isn't much different. The puller flange has a slightly different shape, but in the end it works like any other. It works on most brands I've used: Chevy, Ford, Toyota. On some Chevys I have to use a long bolt to allow the balancer to wrap around the crank a bit during installation before the OTC installer engages the threads. However, this is quite normal and not typical of this puller. You will need a different puller for most Chrysler vehicles. OTC meds are good, as is Lyle. Some Fords will also need a different puller, but you can search by engine or look at other reviews to see which Ford engine needs a specific puller. As with all pullers, the threads should be lubricated with oil or a bearing. fat. The thread breaks very easily if you don't take care of the tool. Make sure the puller is always set straight and stays straight when you pull the crank pulley. Most trucks let you guarantee kit parts, but that doesn't help if you need them the same day. I definitely like this set, and I generally like over-the-counter specialty tools. They're easy to guarantee, and everyone sells them. The suitcase is beautiful and durable, helping to keep everything in order. For what I get at work all I really need is this kit and a Chrysler puller. So, for the most part, this set covers most of the applications you work with. Just add a Chrysler puller to complete it completely.
