2004 Dodge Ram 2500 4x4 Cummins

Let my pitman's hand soak in the PB blaster for a few days before I take it off. At first I had to use a crusher, but as soon as I thought the threads on this thing were snapped off, to my great surprise, the bipod arm just fell off. Works like clockwork. This is a great alternative to the Mopar C-4150A puller used at the dealership. I used it on my 2004 steering box to install a later 2008+ steering box so I think it will fit at least a 2003-2017 Ram 4x4.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not the best

One Hit Wonder Best Puller

I ordered this product to remove the bipod arm on my Jeep when I was replacing the steering box. The threaded rod went in and out of the box with no problem. As soon as I used it, as soon as it got denser, it got heavier. At first I thought it was because the pitman's hand was flatbread, even after soaking it with a PB blaster for several days. After I pulled the bipod arm out, the rod didn't budge. Had to get it in a vise and use a 30 1/2" break bar to try to loosen it. It looks like the…

Worth the money: Puller

Bought to dismantle the bipod on the Mercedes 450SL. Fit well and work great. The Mercedes airlock is very narrow and will require some effort to remove. This tool did it with ease. The method I used was to increase the tension on the puller and then tap the connecting rod with a small hammer. Then tighten the tool a little more and tap again (not really with a hammer, just tap and relax your hand). Repeated this and it lifted the shuttle with little effort. It's worth the investment to have…

Robust part, ready to use.

I bought this puller after doing a lot of research to find which one would work best for pulling the lever on my 2005 Dodge Ram 2500. I've looked into "C-style" pullers on other vehicles. and knew her shaky reputation. I'm a professional mechanic and I rarely buy a cheap tool or feel like it won't hold up to normal wear and tear. This puller worked perfectly. I have several other OTC tools and while the newer tools are a little inferior in quality, this puller is reminiscent of older products…

Go slow and you may need a mod.

I bought this to use on a 2004 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins 4x4 truck. With these trucks, the distance between the blade and the steering shaft bushing is small. This puller fits between the bipod arm and socket where others cannot. However, this puller does not slide far enough to properly align the propeller shaft with the steering shaft bushing. This is because the tapered part of the puller body is not deep enough. I had to use a dremel with a round head to make it deeper. It fits fine after…

REQUIRED TOOL!

oh my god it's a beast! It is heavy in weight which means it is durable. I've had traction issues on my '98 Dodge Ram 1500 as it has probably never been shut down since it was 1998 production date. My other puller just flexed and didn't move. This thing just took it off without hesitation. Once the force of the punch was maxed out, I used a jackhammer and a 5ft pole and flipped it over. It was hard as hell at first, but after a few spins everything smoothed out. I thought that this could damage

Pros
  • cool product

  • crumpled

This is a larger version of 8149. I used 8149 for less traction on a 1965 Mustang but it was too small to fit on. 2001 Dodge 2500 Van Arm. 8150 fits well. The center can be removed, which is useful when the tool needs to be slightly off-center. This tool is also good for removing tie rod ends and intermediate links and in some cases ball joints. This same size tool with some modifications is sold as 4964 for Polaris ball joints and is included in Sprinter Ball Set 6735 (sold separately as…

The BEST Pitman Hand Puller!

I have to say like many other reviewers that the OTC 8150 Conical Pitman Arm Puller is a real beast! The problem with my 1986 GMC S-15 Jimmy (like the S-10 Blazer of the time) was that I couldn't use the standard "C" (or "U") pullers that you could rent at auto parts stores . because there was very little space between the bipod arm and the steering gear on the output shaft and therefore the ears on these pullers would not engage properly. The relatively thin (about 3/16 inch) portion of this…

  • Delivery was very quick

Incredibly strong puller! A must for avid mechanic's toolbox!

In the introduction to this review I would like to say that I am an avid DIY enthusiast. I'd rather spend money on tools and research time to complete the repair than pay someone else. My new project in the garage is a 2001 RHD Jeep Cherokee that my sister bought to mail. There is a lot of maintenance to be done (major air conditioning repairs, power steering, rear main seal, electrical issues and minor body work) but it is within my power. I spent 3 days removing the Pitman lever to replace…
