Knives are supplied separately in a box. All knives are well protected on sharp edges and points. They are firmly attached so they will not hit or damage each other or the wooden block included in the kit. This knife set is very stylish and high quality. The handles look like plastic but feel comfortable. The metal of the blades gives a very high quality feel. Handle material and metal match with no gaps or seams in between. Smoothness in the transition areas indicates that the metal and handle were brushed after assembly. All knives are durable and well balanced. An 8" chef's knife has 3mm (1/8") on the edge and its balance is still where the handle meets the blade. This suggests to me that these blades are full of scent; but I still don't see it because of the design of the handle. These are really high quality, well detailed, super sharp blades. Five knives are usually enough in the kitchen. All knives included in this set are of high quality and very easy to use. My set was razor sharp. The scissors are disassembled so that they can be thoroughly cleaned. I love disassembling scissors, especially after cutting poultry products. The device is heavy and well finished, although I prefer a monobloc in the kitchen, this one is enough. I liked the idea of placing the knives on the side; of course, why put the knife on the edge? The holes for each knife are made exactly to fit each knife. The support block is heavy and rests on four soft pads, which makes it better balanced, won't scratch the countertop, and won't slip. I enjoyed using this knife set. This is a very giftable knife set and I would recommend it.
