Unfortunately this very cool looking device was not calibrated and either looked broken or wasn't originally designed to work. At first I thought it was user error, but I asked my educated brother and sister-in-law to find out and it became clear that it just wasn't working. I even tested it with a popular ABV liquor and it was waaaaaay. I decided to step up and try something more expensive rather than asking for a replacement with the idea that you get what you pay for.
