Can't understand the negative reviews. This is Revain's cheapest mic stand - very cheap! If you're a "pro" why on earth think about getting the cheapest of the cheapest for your job? Not to mention buying it, playing with it, breaking it and then complaining that it's junk? Read the negative reviews of the On Stage stands. They are worse than this Samson attitude! It sounds like the "pros" don't have an ounce of common sense. If you are serious about performing, THEN GET A CONCERT STAND. They cost 5-7 times more for some reason! So for the rest of us with "lightweight" apps (I put the finishing touches on my mini bedroom recording studio). This stand can't be beat for the price! Perfect for podcasting or mic amps (assuming you're not constantly tweaking and disassembling). I am shocked what you can get for $17! All in all I would say this is a VERY solid build for a budget stand. If you have a very heavy microphone and extend the microphone arm all the way, there is a risk of it tipping over. I've never had a problem with tipping, although I use Shure 588s (similar form factor to the SM58) and they're not that heavy (1.1lbs). I've been using this stand for four months now and I love it. I love it so much I'm now buying a second one so I can set up my vocal and acoustic guitar mics at the same time for online music lessons. If my second attitude differs from the first I will update this review. As far as I can tell it's hard to find a better value for money mic stand for light and limited use.
