This is a reusable silica gel container. It s cheap. Silica gel is not suitable for all situations. This is good for closed containers that are not opened often. Slowly absorbed (yes, absorbs, doesn't absorb). Containers are good. Joint gaps are not a problem. It takes a lot of force to separate the halves, at least on the set I have. I replaced the silica gel with 3A molecular sieves anyway, but I tested the silica gel used by submerging it in water and it quickly turned black. Very black. Shine the item under some light and you will definitely notice the difference. They get darker as they absorb more, so they come in different shades of black. At $4 a piece it's a pretty good deal, but know what you're getting and what to expect. You may want to consider other products such as calcium chloride, also known as an anti-humectant (puddles), molecular sieves, or an electronic desiccant.
