The good news is that it's easy to cut.
The skid plate is made of aluminum with a brass finish. The good news is that it's easy to cut, and the bad news is that it's easy to damage. We're going to attach them to a couple of exterior doors and see what happens. I would have liked a solid brass plate that is easy to polish if damaged. I think they will be removed and replaced if damaged. The delivery couldn't have been faster, we received it in one day. Worked perfectly for our project.
