Pleasantly surprised!

Like many people looking at different ring lighting options, during the pandemic I've been forced to work remotely to very tight deadlines and had to make some technological upgrades to enable professional conferencing and Zoom meetings from my new Being able to host from home Workstation (which takes up space in my dining room). I didn't want to spend money on something I feared I'd never need again once my office reopened, but I've heard a lot of people talk about the importance of having a quality controlled light source to do that make video look more polished. . After reading numerous reviews on this product and other ring light and phone stand combo products, I decided on this one. It even arrived earlier than expected (less than 48 hours from order to delivery), well packaged and extremely easy to set up. That's why I'm really impressed with it. It was the largest diameter ring light I could find with a clamp base. Since my impromptu workstation is expensive, I didn't want a tripod that would take up valuable floor space. And the clamp base works great. Maybe it's been improved since a previous reviewer claimed it wasn't strong enough? This is a durable metal clip with protective foam pads inside that can grip surfaces up to 1.5 inches thick. The mounts that the flashlight and phone mount hang from feel very solid and are covered in a matte rubberized finish that feels very premium. They're pretty bend resistant so I can't imagine it falling off unless you're trying to mount a huge phone on top of it. I really like that I can easily move it around the house as long as I have USB power. Source. I usually mount it to the side of my dining table/table and just rotate the lantern and phone mount in front of the chair to face me. I can also attach it to the top of a flat screen computer monitor to elevate the light and camera when needed, or just attach it to the side of a bookshelf, cabinet, etc. if I want to stand during a conference call. The built-in lighting control is very easy to understand and set up, and the hype is justified: it makes a huge difference in video calls! It removes shadows, reduces webcam grain, makes your skin and hair look more natural (instead of the high contrast of '90s punk rock), and the ability to change highlights helps compensate for when you're answering calls at different times of the day . The phone mount is very adjustable (it fits my iPhone XR with a case easily) and the height/angle adjustment eliminates facial distortion when looking at the camera. The whole thing is so compact when you place your arms straight that you can easily tuck it in a corner when not in use. In short, I don't think anyone looking for an affordable clip-on ring light will be disappointed with the versatility or quality of this product. I imagine this might not meet the needs of a professional videographer and I'm sure a larger diameter ring would have advantages, but for what I paid I couldn't be happier! Even after my office reopens, I plan to save it for face-to-face meetings with family members and online classes/meetings, which don't seem to be going away any time soon. Being more like yourself in front of the camera will also help boost your confidence and we could all do better!
