Bought to keep the cables of my 3x 3.5" hard drives neater. But instead I ran into a few problems. TLDR; If If you tried two, you'd better not use this backplate and connect directly to SATA 1 cables instead.A small 1-sheet instruction on one page is incomplete. It doesn't mention that the metal backplate with 4 screws that attach to the drive cage are preinstalled, is removed. The 4 end caps on the back do a poor job of aligning the platter to allow all drives to fit in. With "correct" alignment, only two slots (Top 2 or Bottom 2) can be used, below and needs Help pressing the back to connect the SATA connector. When I tried to install the plate without screws to see how it naturally sits, were the alignment plugs far away, which would explain the installation problem.3. That was strange only 2 sata cables were connected and there are only 2 sata power applications. I figured the drives are connected to the same cable in the PSU anyway, so it should be fine right? No, with all three hard drives attached, the PC was unable to complete the POST. It got stuck on the BIOS screen with all fans spinning at maximum speed. When I tried to restart the computer it only partially started, shut down and repeated 3 times quickly which scared me! I powered off the unit and then removed the drives and backplate. The PC was fine again after 2 power cycles, but it was excruciating. It was either a short circuit (note the paint is peeling off the screw heads exposing the copper layer) or power was disconnected from 2 power connectors when trying to start 3 drives. Not sure what, but it's not satisfactory. My computer worked fine with drives attached directly. The only thing that has changed is the backplate. And she wasn't my first. The previous one only worked in the top slot, which I thought was an adjustment issue. This second one went further, but not in the right direction. I've been using Lian Li products since the Pentium days. I have never been so disappointed with one of their products. This one will come back.
