High quality fan remote control and receiver - quick and easy assembly

I rarely write product reviews but I was so impressed with this "Universal Ceiling Fan Remote Control Kit" that I want to share my experience. MY FAN: My particular 5 blade fan was bought over a decade ago, I'm not sure what make or model it is, but this kit is "UNIVERSAL" and claims to fit 95% of ALL ceiling fans, so i decided to order this and see. I'm a techie and I know a lot about house wiring, to start with. If you are unfamiliar with house wiring, you may consider hiring a professional to do the job. By the way, the kit includes ALL the necessary screws, wire caps, nuts and fasteners - no need to unexpectedly visit the local hardware store. The remote control itself is comfortable to hold, the buttons are made of soft rubber and react to touch after installing the system. My old fan needed lighting so I bought a lighting kit from my local hardware store and installed it on the bottom of my old fan before proceeding to install the remote control kit. The sheet (which I enlarged and uploaded here) is written simply and clearly. All cables are clearly labeled (two input power cables - red and white, then three control cables: white/black/blue and a 4" brown antenna cable that you leave outside the fan shroud for more efficient operation). Distance to the console itself. These wires are pre-stripped and ready to use CANOPY RECEIVER INSTALLATION: The yellow receiver has a special shape that allows it to be pressed firmly against the canopy cover – it is placed upside down so that the contours of the handset match the shape of the cover. See attached figure. The receiver is approximately 4-1/2" long, 2" wide, and 1" deep. Cover. Yes, it's tight. Yes, you have to be careful removing the cables for the cover to fit - it seems almost impossible at first , but with patience it is doable. The opening of the lantern cover is 5" (or more), you can do it! :-) They ship wire caps a bit smaller (well ts) - every bit of space saving helps. The whole installation of the fan and receiver took about 15 minutes IMPORTANT NOTE: Both the receiver and the remote have tiny micro switches that you must set in a pattern that matches each other - they must be "paired" or the remote will not talk to the receiver - it will appear " dead". Sometimes people leave negative reviews - when it's their own fault for setting the device wrong in the first place! Be careful when reading reviews. Possible user error! :-) . The setup instructions ten of these tiny switches are clear. You need a standard 9 volt battery for the remote control. This special remote is designed to control 3 different fan speeds and turn the lights on and off - this unit does NOT dim the lights. Again, there is often insufficient negative feedback that the light doesn't dim - this is unfair as it shouldn't dim the light! Make sure your electrical connections are secure - loose wires will cause problems later! As for how long it should "work" - honestly, it should last for many years. If not, I'll come back and post a new (bad) review! So far I'm incredibly happy with this remote kit.
