I bought this because I like to drive in the late afternoon or early evening when I need a front light with a flashing light so I can be seen. This light definitely meets those criteria and gives me the added benefit of being able to use it as a flashlight. I just wanted a smaller Output Light, but being able to use it for a real night ride for a small additional fee seemed worth it to me. This light has 5 modes (high, medium, low, slow strobe, fast strobe?) where this "fast" strobe actually equates to high power - in this mode I don't see a strobe or it's so fast it's almost is constant. Basically, I use a "slow" flash, which is already faster than I'd like (maybe 3 pulses per second). But since the goal is "to be seen," this strobe mode does its job well. The form factor is much smaller than I expected and it attaches securely to the base. Also, I don't have to take it off the base to charge it because the USB port is easily accessible. I haven't tested how long a real battery lasts at the moment, but during long rides (in strobe mode) I don't have any battery life issues. Overall, this front light was a good buy. It came with a non-rechargeable taillight which I didn't think much of (looks like a souvenir you get at a fair but there were 5 batteries in it!) as I already had a taillight.
