Can't comment on how well they work for their intended and intended use but for me they work well. I use them for bushcraft for a set of bow drills. For an onion borer, you will need string, a wooden spindle, a block of charcoal, and a bearing block for the top of the spindle. I cut a mounting hole in the bearing assembly for a sealed bearing and then when I start sawing back and forth it becomes 1000 times easier to start a fire. I make bracelets from these sealed bearings with paracord, and I always have the bearing itself. Of course, this isn't always necessary. But it looks stylish and very easy to disassemble, use and then reassemble. I will also upload photos.
