I bought this when I lived alone, for washing not drying a lot of salad. However, it worked fine. The only part of the design that bothered me, and would cause problems if used as intended, is the pipe at the bottom that water should drain out of. Basically it was a small hole with a small plastic hose about 5cm long. Of course you should point the hose into a sink or something similar and the water would flow gently into the sewer. Unfortunately, the width of the pipe was much smaller than the width of the hole, which completely negated the top of the pipe as most of the water flowed right out of the hole around where the pipe was. And the tube was so short it would have been useless anyway - its length wasn't long enough to accomplish anything. So it was a complete waste. I took out the tube (because it was useless and interfered with loading) and plugged the hole with a Blu-Tuck while using it. I'm sure you could put in a usable length of tubing and seal it with waterproof tape or blu-tac tape. vertex. Then I added unscented liquid soap (was cheaper than powder for me) and lemon juice (just because I had a lemon tree and it smelled nice on my clothes). I would fill it 10cm below the top with warm water, close the lid and start turning the handle. I usually do this while watching TV. I would do 100 revs in one hand, then switch to the other, another 100 revs, then switch back etc. makes 1000 revs, it would probably take 10-15 minutes. Then I unplugged the Blu-Tac, drained the water and gave it another 1000 spins to dry the clothes. A full load of laundry is ready in less than half an hour, with no electricity but for the price of a few tablespoons of liquid soap. Handy when money is tight. Laundry costs me about $5 a time. My low income meant I had to save all my dirty clothes to wash as many as possible at once, so I could only wash them once a week. Using this spinner was much cheaper and more convenient. After about 5 months the cost of the spinner was less than the money I would have spent on a laundromat in that time. Also, I could only use it on one item if I wanted it in an emergency, which made it a lot more convenient. It was quicker and no more lint stuck to my clothes from the last person to use the washing machine. The best thing is that I wring out the clothes when hanging them up, they dry very quickly, even at night. Just an hour or so. So what if I suddenly need a garment that is ready the next day? Light. The laundry doesn't work. It washes clothes no better than a home washing machine (but better than a laundry), but cheaper and faster. If money is tight I highly recommend it. Ideal for one person. For example, I can wash 4 or 5 shirts/tops, a pair of pants and a week's supply of socks and underwear at once. Or let's say 3-4 pants, a sweater and a pair of socks. Basically clothes for 3 or 4 days for me. But I'm a pretty small person. It's not really suitable for more than one person unless you wash everything individually or something. And it's not suitable for taller individuals unless you want to wash your clothes more often, as you can't wash the same amount on each load. If I had really dirty clothes I would wash them twice, so I think on average it uses the same amount of water as an electric washing machine. In any case. Probably good for a salad. The drain hose is useless due to the large opening and short length, so you have to use it in the sink. A fantastic laundry item when money is tight and you live alone.
