I bought this to replace two wired routers at each end of the house. Set up was a bit fiddly, but it was partly my fault. Originally tried setting up a slave AP as the master, thinking they were interchangeable. Just remember that the master will have a QR code. In addition, it was not possible to call up the web interface for configuration from a PC. I ended up installing the app on my phone and setting it up that way. After setting up the network, I found that for some reason the access point refused to show the configuration page unless you put http:// before 192.168.0.1. 0.1 I've never seen this before, but it's fine and the UI works well, if a bit clunky. There are many settings that are not available in the app, so going to this page is very important. After reading some reviews I was concerned that you only need the WiFi password to make changes to the network. In the end it wasn't a problem for me. Parental controls and most other basic settings are only available in the web interface, and you can set a different password for them. The only thing that might be an issue on that front is that you can change the SSID and Wi-Fi passwords from within the app. Otherwise it's just LED settings and range control. The application is mainly for information. Setting up a slave AP was much easier. All I had to do was plug it into the power and ethernet network at the other end of the house and it automatically saw the master and mirrored the networks I had set up there. The speeds throughout the house are amazing. I haven't tried wireless backhaul, but with ethernet connecting 2 modules, the 5Ghz network is as fast as ethernet in every part of my house and in my front and back yard.
