I bought this recorder back in 2011. Why am I checking it only now? Because I was looking at something else that I saw here and I was like, "Why the hell not?" I love this thing. I still have it and it still works like butter. I bought it to take notes for college and have since found other uses for it. It records incredibly well and is great for covert recording. (Note: Check with your state about hidden recording laws so you don't get in trouble. My state says that while I may or may not be one of the participants in the conversation, the conversation is happening somewhere there aren't any sane ones Expectations of privacy (e.g., in a public place) that I may record Also note that if you are recording out of state (e.g., during a phone conversation), federal law (the one with the above listed laws is identical) takes precedence, or at least that was the last time I checked). Check current federal laws regarding sound recording before proceeding). It picks up sounds like a champ even when hidden. It works for a LONG time on 1 set of batteries as it will automatically sleep when there is no sound. True Story: I once even caught my son at a party at my house while I was at work hiding him in the living room after my spider senses told me something was wrong. I just popped in fresh batteries in the morning before work, hid it on the fridge in record mode, and got to work. When I came back that evening it was still good to go. This little asshole picked up sounds from all over the house. And let me tell you, I overheard some interesting conversations which I quickly chopped up with the MP3 rocket and sent to the parents of every eligible child who attended unauthorized "gatherings". Needless to say, my son was too paranoid to ever do it again. Good times. I've had several voice recorders and this one was the best CRAZY. Still going strong after 7 years.
