I originally bought these to use in a countertop bin to store leftovers before taking them outside to the compost heap and tossing it all out in the hopes they'll break quickly. I would say they are biodegradable but not compostable. After a few weeks they are still completely intact on the pile, which I wouldn't necessarily call bad, just not what I was looking for. If you're looking for an alternative plastic bag that will last you weeks before you throw it away, then this is perfect for you! Just be aware that they don't compost easily and always seem to be damp for some reason.
