Review on πŸ”§ Enhance Engine Performance with Edelbrock 4025 Uni-Syn Carburetor Balancing Instrument by Chris Lemm

Poor build quality and clearly not suitable for SU HS2 carburetors

I tried to balance HS2 carburetors on my 1275cc MG Midget with this tool. Couldn't get the gauge below 1500 rpm at all, which is a useless situation for balancing purposes. First I closed the venturi to the minimum aperture! Build quality is very poor with several air gaps (leaks) in the indicator tube assembly: 1. Mold in the swivel joint is preventing the joint from sealing properly. 2. The top segment of the indicator arm that connects the vacuum port to the glass indicator tube has a glass seal but no port seal. Tightening the mounting screws doesn't help as daylight is still visible between the two components. After deburring and lapping the swivel and installing a soft washer at the top of the gauge tube, the gauge now only rises at around 1100 rpm but does not roll over at 800 rpm. Emailed Edelbrock for advice but they didn't respond kindly. Overall I am very disappointed in this unit as its principle of operation is elegant in its simplicity and it should work if properly designed and built for small carburetors.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Nothing here
