Review on Scotch-Brite MU-WL Multi-Finishing Wheel: Achieve Superior Finishes with Medium Grit (1 Pack) by Eddie Curd

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Really great for finishing stainless steel or other metal

I've been using tons of Scotchbrite finishing wheels for over a decade. Fine metalwork in stainless steel, bronze and aluminum, large public sculptures. My favorite so far has been the EXL 2A Medium which I mostly buy with 6 x 1/2" wheels. Extremely versatile, can be used on an edge or surface like a 6" sanding disc. Even use it on the occasional random orbit sander instead of sandpaper. But I need a larger circle to brush or grit. 1" is fine to get a good result. Wide enough bite. Sometimes I use multiple wheels for very wide surfaces, but it's harder to get a good print to get, it's more for final coverage to get wide surfaces as well. A single 1" wide circle gets most of the finish in the center, may remove a bit of material but still gives a good almost finished Finish and it's as good as it gets, a good balance of distance and fine finish. .I usually finish with a Red Very Fine Scotchbrite ball wheel and then handpads. Also a good balance between soft and hard. They last a very long time so I don't mind paying the price. I'd still like something more aggressive because I still need to use the 7" disc natively on the platter but haven't found that in the Scotchbrite wheel yet.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • No power
