These cartridges are the best you can get for cheap wood. They didn't require much grinding. I paint the wood in light oak, so even birch wood needs a light sanding. They picked up the stain evenly and did not deform. Also, the coloring brought out a bit of the wood texture they have. Of the 50 rounds, 40 were perfect (or near perfect) and suitable for dyeing and sealing. 10 had various imperfections but are still usable for other purposes such as decoupage. In terms of size, they are exactly 4 inches in diameter but less than 1/8 inch. Considering that the prices of the finest woods are skyrocketing, I would say that they are definitely an acceptable alternative, with an excellent price for 50 pieces, even with 20% rejects.
