Vibrant pastels
A set of 24 Kingarts Soft Pastels contains several beautiful colours. Right out of the box, the edges of the pastels are either hard and need to be warmed up before the pigment flows freely. They're very dusty, but I've never seen soft pastels that don't generate a lot of dust. I work on this by drying and partially filling in my shade and then "painting" the dust with my finger. I have no formal training in pastel so I don't know if anyone else is doing it but it seems to be holding the dust. I have respiratory hypersensitivity at home so I'm trying to be vigilant. The pastels seem to break easily, but I'm probably pressing more than usual.
