Vibrant pastels

A set of 24 Kingarts Soft Pastels contains several beautiful colours. Right out of the box, the edges of the pastels are either hard and need to be warmed up before the pigment flows freely. They're very dusty, but I've never seen soft pastels that don't generate a lot of dust. I work on this by drying and partially filling in my shade and then "painting" the dust with my finger. I have no formal training in pastel so I don't know if anyone else is doing it but it seems to be holding the dust…

  • Decent performance

Good student pastel set for beginners

Quality painting materials are notoriously expensive, and that's understandable. This pastel set is a good starter set for beginners or anyone who likes to play around with pastels. This is a decent set of 24 pieces in assorted colors at a really good price for art supplies. The pastels themselves give vibrant colors and blend quite well. Of course, you can spend MUCH more for much more expensive pastels. This set can be considered a student set, and a beginner at that. The quality is really…

Good for shadows, bright colors, doesn't work with tone.

I usually use chalk pastes to color polymer clay, create shades and mix. That's what I wanted to use it for. Unfortunately, these are the first pastels I've ever used that didn't work for this. Whatever shade I use, the tone comes out gray. So I had no choice but to "draw” with him. I shaded the alien landscape drawing with light colors to give the world unnatural light tones. For that he did a great job. for sound? Not recommended. It arrived intact, although the pastel pink was mysteriously…

Deeper, richer color with less chipping and cracking

I really like these pastels - the colors are vibrant. I have a set of soft pastels that I bought a few years ago but stopped using because they were too dry, crumbly, peeling all over my work and required a lot of pressure to get deep color onto paper. A set of 24 KINGART Soft Pastels glide across the paper, leaving behind deeper, richer colors without nearly the same powdery chipping or pressure. I am very impressed. KINGART pastels inspire me to do new pastel work that I almost gave up before

Soft pastel sticks for blending.

These soft pens are great for mixing colors and covering large areas of paper. The consistency is soft and slightly crumbly and can be mixed directly with chopsticks, fingers or other utensils. The sanding quality is the same, as is the color: although I've only used it twice, I haven't found any big clumps of sand or paint, no waves or streaks of paint, and the edges are perfectly even. Picking a color is about what you would expect, and mixing it for the exact shade you want is pretty easy…

  • Very good value for money

  • Unbelievable price

Medium soft with good color intensity

Kingart 126 Soft Colored Pastels is a good set to start with pastels or add the colors you want. As an art teacher I have used many different pastels and I find this set to be very good with a good soft quality giving good color intensity. I considered pastel to be one of my main areas of interest. This is a limited set of colors and should be added to another larger set for best performance. Pastel is actually clay with powdered or ground pigment mixed in. Clay particles are microscopic, so…

24 color set not as good as it looks

So what can I tell you about this 24 color set? The pieces are 2.5" long and 3/8" square. They are intended for covering large areas, not for detailing (where pastels work best). At first I thought it was a good choice from light to dark and different colors, but I quickly changed my mind. The two oranges were almost the same color, there was only one blue-purple and only one of the yellows worked well - this is a problem as I was trying to do a sunset. Also, only black was really dark. Even…
