They are bright enough when needed and dim/turn off by themselves via a sensor. Yellow is by far my favorite for light output. This is the most practical option as it lets in enough light to comfortably navigate in the dark. The color change is really cool, but many colors are not vivid, which makes it more decorative. I put yellow in the bathrooms and kitchen and a color changer in the bedroom. The mushroom cap sits on top of the base and is unattached.
