It's good for my purposes. I've had a bit of a learning curve. I've learned that I can easily bottom out the device and stop the rotation on slower speeds. However, it's easy to see so I can just ease up on the pressure to see the spinning pick up. Speed, type of grit and job, but basically ease up. It's making short and easy work of projects. I had plans to refinish a bistro table, but that went so fast that I did the deck railing, and have been using it to sand some resin pieces.I was nervous using this sander, or even ordering it. I didn't want to get a machine that was expensive and more than I need as a non-professional. I didn't want to be disappointed either, because I really need a good sander. There are so many products on the market the prices are all over the place. With the nice weather I'm motivated to take on some new skills and decided to order this sander. I make crafts and take on some DIY projects around the home, but I am not sanding every day. After learning more about 'how' to use the sander, I deciding to just use it. I ran it through a ramp up. It is surprisingly comfortable to use. The shape is standard, from what I can tell, but it is light weight, and so easy to use and is very comfortable on my hands. There is not any wobble or unpleasant vibrations. I've really been enjoying the ease of use so much that I have been finding more projects to do, that I wouldn't have even considered. As for the surfaces I sanded so far, I've sanded them by hand before and this is the forth time I've painted these surfaces, because this is the North side of the house and I update ever three years. By hand I never got the smooth, surface. It was okay but hard work, and not smooth. This is a joy.There isn't any over heating, and so far I've had no issues with limits. I ordered a set of pads with grits from 80 to 3000, and the hook and loop is functioning very well with those pads. The paper that comes with the sander, is okay but I had to change it a few times for the small table top, and I'm sure there is better sand paper for the job, and I'll order that asap.5 stars, surprisingly great value.
