I don't just use this for luggage carriers. Instead of dripping directly onto the fork, I drip a little onto a clean, soft towel and rub the fork legs, leaving a thin film on the surface. I do the same with my damper. I also wipe the fork/rear shock seals (don't soak, just wipe) so they don't dry out and get covered in mud while riding. The tip of the needle is useful for applying lubricant to other areas such as shifter cables and mechanism springs. It is thinner than ordinary oil and does not attract dust. To be honest I've been using this lube for over a year now and can't tell if it improves the fork performance or makes it smoother - all I know is that it protects the finish and makes cleaning easier when I'm done riding.
