Ignore instructions

I purchased this item despite reviews of it not sticking to various surfaces. Surprise! I didn't get it to stick either. I thoroughly wiped the wall surface in the shower, then wiped it with rubbing alcohol and waited for it to dry. The item has been dropped several times. With or without the weight of the soap in the bowl, it was still sticky after only 10-45 minutes. Epiphany. I recently bought a small knife sharpener that requires you to vacuum it to the counter while using it. In order for it to stick firmly, according to the instructions, you must wet either the suction cup or the work surface. The suction cup holds firmly on a wet surface. I used the same technique on this soap dish. I wet the suction cup, firmly pressed the 'button' to turn it on and after 2 weeks it's still in place. With a large bar of soap in each plate. To attempt. ignore instructions. Wet the suction cup. Added note. I use the same technique on vinyl "stickers" for my car. Tacky or not, I remove the protective backing, quickly place the decal in a bowl of warm, soapy water, and apply. The slippery soapy water allows you to position it perfectly, then just gently wipe away the soapy water left on the surface. Works on glass or painted surfaces. If bubbles remain, simply use your fingers or a credit card to remove them. When it comes time to remove the sticker, there will be no trace of it. No one.
