got bivy for free in March. I basically used the logging feature, which initially worked. I tried using the weather but it didn't work. Then in August I took him on a hike. He sent a message and received a weather report (the only time the weather worked). I then assumed it was working because I turned it on and clicked the registration message three more times. Guess what. He NEVER sent those checks. I contacted support and they said the device stopped working because the firmware needed to be updated. I was very annoyed because I rely on this device, when i have an emergency. And they tell me that software updates What they do can completely damage the device. I wanted to return the device for a refund but they flatly refused as the device had been used for more than 90 days. I worked with a support rep to update the firmware and the device stopped responding at all. I liked it because they sent me a new device. At the moment I have a new device, but I am skeptical that it can really protect me. I gave the device two stars because it is easy to use when it works. Also, don't forget to update the firmware.
