I've been using Square D pressure switches for years. They have always been very reliable and their range is easy to set. The Shallow Well jet pump takes water straight out of you 300 gallon water reservoir that is constantly topped up with city water I'm sure there will always be a steady supply of water for the pump but just in case a pipe breaks or something else interferes with the suction/suction side of the For the pump I use a Square D relay with low pressure cut off to protect the pump and a float switch (which automatically shuts off power to the pump if the water level in the water tank gets too low - in the event of a municipal water outage that happened previously) should get the barrel going of the pump I had to replace two pumps due to dry running (PVC fittings popped out and Check valve PVC - I use brass spring check valve, works like a champ now - no water hammer I got from the brass twist check valve). By the way, after installing a new switch, you need to hold the lever up to start the pump. Otherwise, the pump will simply stop and wait for the contacts in the switch to close. The pump should start immediately once it reaches 20psi and you no longer need to hold the lever to keep the pump running. Make sure your cut-in is around 25psi or higher and your pump should be working fine. For your health! Woody, Guam
