This thing is GENIUS! I bought it for I/O - I have a deep cycle and a starter battery. This allows both batteries to be charged by the alternator through the ACR. Another feature is that the switch itself allows both batteries to be turned on, but only draws power from the battery that is physically being used (e.g. when my fish finder is on, it uses the deep cycle battery, NOT the starter battery). ); Another feature of the switch is that you can combine both batteries if your starter battery has low voltage. ACR also cuts power to the batteries if the voltage on either of them drops below a certain level - this essentially gave me peace of mind that I didn't have to worry about lugging around a jump starter. It works very well with my 55 amp alternator. I always charge my batteries the night before and to be honest if I'm out for a few hours it doesn't take long for both batteries to be fully charged - you can tell by the status LED on the ACR - I have it personally installed on the dashboard and i like it when i can see it. This is not only practical when both batteries are being charged, but also a real safety feature. This little guy allows me to charge both batteries for the duration of my time on the water!
