Not ideal for barn doors but could work with a little improvisation

I bought this in hopes of "fixing" our barn door. Our barn door always closed about 1/4 because whoever installed it probably ran a little out of place. I had to play around with this product a bit to get it working on a barn door but I ended up getting it working. The barn door's floor-to-door clearance is higher than your traditional door, so I had an issue with the lift magnet not being lifted by the door magnet as it rolled over. I was able to fix this by simply placing a few coins under the magnet which lifts so it doesn't go completely flat which creates a smaller gap between the two magnets and now allows it to lift fully when the door rolls over it. Second, the door magnet touched the rails when closing and I was worried that over time this might damage the rails. So I decided to mount the door bracket along the back of the door, perpendicular to the rails, rather than the sides. There is a ledge, but that part of my door is obscured by the bedside table, so I'm not worried about the aesthetics, just focusing more on making sure the door can stay fully open. If you want aesthetics in a barn door, this article is not for you. I give 5 stars because this product does what it is supposed to do and for a conventional door that is lighter and a normal height it will work.
