- I got these for a very specific reason which is I have pressure on my spinal cord and can't mess with the trot up and setting up a conventional (heavy!) machine; I have to have surgery in a few weeks and I *definitely* won't make it at all. So I started looking for something smaller and lighter, especially something to use on my lap on my do-it-yourself desk, and came across this kind of mini machine. All I wanted was something that could do basic stitching - my full size machine. , although it is a "simple" model, there are all kinds of stitches that i never needed so i wanted something, something that could sew more evenly and much faster than i can do by hand AND something that is as small and light as possible. This little machine isn't even as heavy as a 15.5 ounce can of diced tomatoes ;) so it's definitely light! It's also tiny, about the size of a mass-market paperback. Prices for these little cars vary wildly, and when I saw this Michley brand (which appeared to be "nameless" by comparison) brand new for $16.80, I jumped at it. - I haven't done anything with it, but it seems to be working fine - if that changes in the near future I'll post an update. So far everything is exactly as described. In addition, the network has enough information about it. including instructional videos. So yes the instructions (or the so called "manual") is barely comprehensible because the english is just *so* bad, but there are pictures AND there are resources on the web including these how-to videos if you search for "LSS - 202". - Several reviewers have repeatedly downplayed this as a "toy" - I think it depends on how you define "toy". If it's a task for a person to do, what difference does it make what it's called? But more importantly, if you want a full-featured machine, PAY FOR IT. Too many "reviewers" on Revain seem to be giving 1 star because they expect that the $4 item is made the same as the $40 item and has the exact same features. It makes no sense. Some reviewers described it as loud "for its size". but it shouldn't come as a surprise given the lightweight materials and small size, it just doesn't have enough mass to drown out the noise of the engine and transmission. It's actually no louder than my own larger car, which is also mostly plastic, but the *height* is greater, so it can be more annoying to some people and therefore *appears* louder than it actually is. ((My old *metal* car is also the quietest, of course, but it's also heavy, and I need to find some spare parts.)) - My LSS-202 was well packaged and definitely *not* "just" in a box thrown", as some reviewers seem to have experienced - mine was fully assembled, fully threaded, and tucked into form-fitting foam that had molded slots for the pedal, power cord, and a small pouch with extra spools. -Of course, I *ordered* from a highly rated supplier who also offered "Fulfillment By Revain". The price isn't generally the "lowest possible" price for these vendors, but I've never had a problem with either option and wonder if that explains the difference between a good LSS-202 purchase and a troubled one. - Anyway, it stings. Forwards Only - Turn the fabric over if you want to sew in reverse. For something that costs less than a lot of kids toys HEY that's it ;) and I'm wondering is that the difference between a good SGS-202 purchase and a bad purchase?
