"Chemical " action? in Art Supplies and Tools

I'm renovating my kitchen cabinets. I bought this product based on the positive reviews thinking it was just what I needed to chemically sand a semi-gloss finish and paint over my new favorite finish. I literally followed the instructions. and after washing the cabinets as instructed, he took the extra step of cleaning them by wiping them down with 99% alcohol. I let it dry. After 24 hours (no boiling during this time) I applied the 1st coat of Klean-Strip. I applied the 2nd layer. generous as people have recommended. I have not seen any chemical reaction through any app. Applies the 3rd application + used Heavy Duty cleaning pad. Nothing. Sniffed the canister. NOTHING. No chemical smell. Based on numerous High Star reviews, I can only conclude that what I received is NOT a solution of the product's chemical compound, but a replacement/scam. Fake supplier? I would rate the effect of the solvent container I received as similar to baking soda + peroxide + a pinch of fine cactus sand and don't want to be caught if someone uses up the real product and redistributes the non-product into the manufacturer's container. I would have sent it back although I made the mistake of not testing it immediately upon delivery and now the return period has expired. While looking for another product recently, I saw this item on the Home Depot website for $5.98.
