Since this is a submersible water pump I just put it in a deep bowl of water and voila! easy to clean fountain. I tried it on the bottom first and aimed straight up; However, it seemed to my cat to be too active. I then pinned it to the side of the bowl, creating a soft but enticing crimp. Ideal! I bought this with a USB wall adapter with ports on the bottom; In theory, if my cat starts playing with the cord, it will detach and protect her from electrocution. That's exactly what I wanted! I didn't rate the durability as I haven't had it for a very long time. Anyway, I'm completely satisfied.
