I didn't cut it because the key screw is easy to loosen but other than that here are some basic things you should know if you move all about it that just you you need to cut or cut the faceplates that hold the battery in place and bend the piece of metal that the battery sits on to meet the gold plate on the transponder, the battery does not touch the transponder held by the bezels, then you will need to use something small like a small screwdriver to insert the battery into the transponder that closes the assembly and screw it in without moving the battery. After that the key works. Stronger screws can be used where they don't break easily but other than that it turned out pretty well, some design flaws but with a little effort it works fine. i would give 5 stars if all you need had to put everything in and go from there
