Review on BaoFeng BF 888S Two Radio Pack by Mike Mitchell

Great radios for the price

I work at a junkyard and we are tough on literally everything. The radios we were using got lost, broke or died one by one, so we tried to replace them. Given the cost of replacing these Nokias, they only wanted 2 or 3 and that wasn't enough. So I jumped on the Revain and started looking. When I first found it, I was skeptical because of the price. We could buy 15 Baofeng radios for the price of a Nokia replacement. The authorities insisted that we not waste time and money on $12 radios. A few more days passed and I decided I needed some radios and $225 wasn't too much for me to risk my own money. Of course there are radios that we've given away and they work just as well as radios that cost 15 times as much. The other benefit was that for $12 for a radio, we could actually make each employee responsible for their own radio. If they lose or break it, we must have $12 before you can get another one. The 10th radio we used had a bad battery. Once fully charged, it only works for 1-2 hours before needing to be charged again. I am currently contacting Baofeng to see if they can send me a new battery and I will be sending it back. I'll update when the dust settles. So if you ask me, would you recommend these radios? No doubt. My employer was so pleased with our success at a fraction of the cost that they ordered Baofeng for all of the other 13 locations that needed radios. Also, they ended up giving me my money back, but they waited a month to make sure the radio held up!

Cons
  • Good mostly but...
