Review on Sound Storm Laboratories LOPRO10 Amplified Car Subwoofer - Boost Your Bass on Limited Space by Andre Stephens

Great sounding subwoofer for the money

*Edit* 10/28/15 - 16 months and still works great! I've been using it on my 96 4Runner for about 5 months now. Sounds good, a definite improvement. It really fills out the low frequencies and rounds out the sound. I didn't expect a powerful sound from it because of its size and price, but it does its job perfectly. I used to have an Infinity Basslink II in the trunk of my Mustang that sounded a little better, but this time I didn't want to lose ANY cargo space. The mirrors don't really shake on my car, but you can definitely hear and feel the bass now. I usually use it for rock and alternative rock and it really opens up the bass and you can hear/feel the kick. The sound quality isn't the best, but it's reasonably priced and fits under the seat. It was very easy to install and set up. For the installation I used an inexpensive Boss wiring kit that Amazon sells. I haven't noticed any reliability issues with the device, if I do I'll definitely update my review. I thought I had a problem and SoundStorm Labs/BOSS took care of it (despite my shipping cost). The problem was determined to be the intermittent grounding of my installation. I'm just pretty sure this unit isn't really 600W RMS but has a 25A fuse so it can put out 25A x 14.4V = 360W or continuous at perfect efficiency. This is one of the cheapest underseat subwoofers out there and it hasn't disappointed me yet! I installed this and the Alpine head unit at the same time. My plan is to use these 2 for a while until I can get better speakers and an amp. The subwoofer, in combination with the high-pass filter on the main unit, provides a significant improvement in sound and helps avoid blowing out the standard speakers by pushing the low frequencies too far. Seems to be good results so far. I usually set the LPF to 60Hz on my main unit and it seems to work fine for me.

  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Not the best
