I bought three tire tools, the other two were slightly flattened and bent at the ends. With different kinks on each end, this tool appears to allow you to get a better grip on the rim and tire bead in a variety of situations, removing the tire from the rim, putting it back on and reaching under the bead to break it . Fatigue, etc. Complex bends seem to be the result of experience and are useful, while the flattened single bend of other tools just seems to allow you to hold the position that tool puts you in so you can then use that tool to at get another grip elsewhere around the tyre/rim. I hope that makes sense.
